Yellow Pages Suck

Don't use the Yellow Pages to advertise, they ruined my ad last year giving us 55% of our money back and due to their incompetence we have had nothing but time wasters and idiots contact us.

I reckon half of those that called us were set up from Yellow Pages themselves and were not even real jobs in the first place, most of the callers being called Steve.

Fortunately Google and our clients recommendations has kept us very busy, we will never advertise with the Yellow Pages again.

Up till last year we had always took a full colour 2 column ad.

Yellow Pages Ad 2007

Ignore the hand writing, we used this ad to adapt ready for the new ad.

We were happy with this, as it showed was bright and eye catching, we checked with their print department if our black on blue would work and they had no problems with this. Proof reading looked fine and we went with it.

We had some good feedback on our ad.

The last year we decided to cut down the size of the ad and use the savings on Google and other alternative advertising.

Yellow Pages Ad 2008

As you can see it was real bad as they did not use a solid 100% black but rather a dark grey which does not work on a blue background.

I phoned Yellow Pages and talked to a customer services bod explaining that it would affect my business as a designer who could not design his own advert, he eventually agreed we could have a refund of just over half so it was like paying for a black and white version of the ad.

As a result of this we will not be advertising in the Yellow Pages again as the ad, as I predicted, did nothing for us.

We will be offering a Yellow Pages Special; If you are thinking of advertising in the Yellow Pages then don't do it and use that money to create a website instead, if you show us your quote from Yellow Pages and we will match it and create your website and carry out a full SEO on the site to get it as high as possible in the search engines. Just ask for our Yellow Pages Special.

The difference is that we will not only get the colours right we will run your site for a year and it will cover the entire world not just be restricted to the Southend-on-Sea area.

If you have had any similar problems with yellow Pages then please leave a comment.

I hate the three quarter page ad I did not authorize to print. I was relentless in my request to view eight weeks prior to print. I prefer to avoid litigation but will still seek council. I'm big on presentation and wanted a color ad. I got a thoughtless, junky, black and white ad.

Yellow Pages are just INCOMPETENT, SIMPLE!!

My Rep one Alex K was worse than useless,
My Artwork was delayed so long that the weeks ticked by until I only had a few days to make a single amend, Then after sending in my amends they just uploaded the artwork I had already Rejected.. Yells Artwork Dept is completely CLUELESS!!

They Do Not Take Any Notice Of Your Instructions, In fact they just ignore everything you say, My 7 Year old Niece has more Artistic talent.

I complained more times than I care to mention, I must have contacted Yell about 25 times in two weeks chasing up artwork etc.

My complaints were escalated to Senior Managers, Chris C [&] Nick F, Neither of them Bothered to make contact to find out about my concerns and help resolve anything, they just completely IGNORED ME!!

I had emailed both Managers many times and left messages on their phones, so did Yell Customer services agents. Not a Single Response.

They are just Plain Ignorant!!, Call themselves Managers what a JOKE! They couldn't give a Toss.

They have failed me as an advertiser at every level, I have never come across such a POORLY run BADLY organised company as YELLOW PAGES!!

I am going to Report them to either OFT, or the Advertising Standards, Not to mention considering legal Action for Breach of contract.

I would welcome anybody's thoughts.

Thanks!
